tess daly BBC This Time Tomorrow

Lucky Dunoon Couple

Most people would think themselves lucky to ever achieve what Andy Warhol called “15 minutes of fame” but during the last few months Dunoon couple Susan and Robin Watling have found themselves on television twice!

Their first appearance was earlier this year when they competed in STV’s quiz show ‘Postcode Challenge’ along with neighbours Isla and George Bruce and the Bruce’s sons, Ian and Alan. The PA23 team enjoyed roaring success in the shows rehearsals answering every single question correctly. Unfortunately they didn’t win in the televised show but they thoroughly enjoyed the experience and excitement of it all.

And then - - - -something amazing happened!

Only a few weeks ago Susan happened to mention to Rob that she would love a weekend in London, go on the London Eye and maybe see her favourite show ‘Joseph’.

That was just a dream; Then Susan heard about the BBC recording a brand new show in Glasgow with Tess Daly called ‘This Time Tomorrow’ she contacted neighbours George and Isla and both couples set off for Glasgow to be part of the audience watching contestants vying for three big prizes. The attraction for Susan lay in the possibility of a member of the audience winning a holiday during the production. (You never know, it could be you!)

Strangely enough, one of the holidays prizes just happened to be – A weekend in London with a trip on the London Eye, tickets for ‘Joseph’ and lots more,- - -!

Rob couldn’t believe his ears when his ticket number was called out – he leapt to his feet shouting ‘yes!’, but then had to settle down and focus on answering his question to win the trip to London. Tess Daly asked him what type of transport had been introduced in London in 1860s, Rob decided the answer must be - The Underground - which was correct!

The prize was four days in London – but so much more that that! Here is the itinerary -

* Sunday 27 July – Collected from home, Thistle Taxis driver Stuart arrives to take us to Glasgow Airport
(with lots of entertaining banter on the way).

* BA flights to T5 Heathrow (and the luggage arrived safely)

* Collected by taxi taken to 5 star hotel, just off Oxford St.

That night a private capsule on London Eye, champagne and chocolates.

After huge breakfast the next day collected by our own red London tour bus and given a tour round, wherever we wanted.

At lunchtime we stopped at Madame Tussauds to have our hands cast.
Went back in evening for an after hours tour of the waxworks all to ourselves-more champagne

Next day- lovely lunch at ‘Claridges’, tour of the kitchen and Gordon Ramsey’s latest book.

That evening to theatre for Joseph, best seats, goody bag, afterwards met the cast and crew.
Very interesting to see behind the scenes and how it all came together

Final day- After yet another massive breakfast private car back to Heathrow, BA flights home,
met by Thistle again at airport and delivered back to our front door.

What A Holiday!
